Through its Material Intelligence approach, VitrA Tiles presented The Code concept and a range of fresh innovations to professionals from the industry at Cersaie 2026.
Bologna, Italy: from 21-25 September, Bologna, Italy played host to Cersaie 2026, the international exhibition for ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings, and VitrA Tiles took part, welcoming architects, designers, customers and professionals from across the sector. With the Material Intelligence concept as the basis of its presence, VitrA Tiles presented its collections for 2027 together with its latest innovations.
“Every material has a code. Material Intelligence deciphers it.” At the heart of the VitrA Tiles approach to design sits this statement, under which the brand reinterprets materials found in nature by bringing together research, advanced technology and design know-how. Building on the aesthetic and technical potential that nature offers, VitrA Tiles turns these materials into original surfaces that open up new inspiration for contemporary architecture.

Three distinct languages of design
Drawing on the three design languages set out by The Code concept, the Resincode, Geocode and Metacode collections were created, and visitors to Cersaie would find them on display at the VitrA Tiles stand.
Taking its cue from natural concrete, with its porous and mineral-rich texture, Resincode combines natural transitions with layered effects across the surface, giving contemporary interiors a refined, balanced and minimalist feel. Inspired by Spanish limestone, marble, quartzite and gneiss, Geocode offers a contemporary take on the varied geological heritage of natural stone, translating it onto ceramic surfaces across four separate surface types: Alba, Imperio, Rio and Merano. Available in three separate finishes, in gold, iron and copper, Metacode carries the gentle tonal shifts and soft reflections of patinated metal onto ceramic surfaces, pairing an industrial character with refined aesthetics.

Latest technologies on show
Alongside the new collections, VitrA Tiles used Cersaie 2026 to present its V-Flex and V-Tone innovations as well.
Built on Välinge’s Ceraloc® locking technology, V-Flex is a tile installation solution that needs no adhesives at all. In contrast to conventional bonded tile applications, special side profiles allow the system to join tiles mechanically, with installation promised to be up to five times faster. It helps to achieve precise alignment, uniform grout lines and a clean, professional result. When required, single tiles can be lifted out and replaced, a considerable benefit that makes maintenance and repair work simpler. Acoustic comfort is another of its benefits. V-Flex is recommended for offices, hotels, showrooms, retail stores and store chains, as well as educational facilities and commercial spaces.

With its focus on tonal variation in ceramic production, V-Tone keeps colour consistent and preserves design integrity across different surfaces. Work is ongoing to integrate V-Tone technology into the VitrA Tiles production lines.
