Growth Mindset in Action: Brain Power Wellness Reviews on Student Transformation

One of the most compelling themes echoed across Brain Power Wellness reviews is the organization’s emphasis on adopting a growth mindset. For many educators, this concept is more than just a lesson—it’s a mental and emotional perspective that not only improves how students navigate life’s myriad challenges, but also enriches their educational, familial, and overall social relationships.

From Fixed Mindset to Student Empowerment

Health educator Aria Pinto has seen this shift firsthand at the Urban Assembly School for Applied Math and Science in the South Bronx. After completing her Certified Training Leader training through Brain Power Wellness (BPW), a school-based wellness organization, she began applying the program’s tools in her own classrooms. She is looking forward to analyzing the results of her pre- and post-surveys to gauge results empirically but from her observations, students have benefited immeasurably from the program.

“I think the language around growth mindset versus fixed mindset is something students aren’t exposed to often enough,” Pinto shared during a recent discussion. “They’ve internalized messages such as, ‘I’m not good at this, so I’ll never be good at it’ or ‘That’s just the way I am,’ without realizing that these are mindsets they can change.”

Leadership Through Small Group Cohorts

According to multiple Brain Power Wellness reviews, the organization’s programs help students move beyond limiting beliefs. Whether they’re learning to lead the whole class through brain break activities or practicing communication in small student cohorts, young people are empowered to shift their thinking from, for example, “I’m not good at this, so why bother?” to “I’m not good at this yet, but I’m learning how to get better at it.”

One of the principal ways that BPW fosters growth mindset for the youth in their partner schools is through its Student Leadership Program (SLP). The program keeps each cohort of student leaders small- typically no more than 20 to 25 students. In this way, while the students may not know each other well at the start, they quickly begin forming supportive connections and friendships as they consistently collaborate together in various leadership, partnering, and larger-group team-building activities.

Teaching Skills That Go Beyond the Classroom

“The program teaches real, applicable leadership skills,” Pinto explains. “They’re not just standing in front of a class; they’re learning how to empathize, how to manage stress, how to shift their mindset—and then model that behavior for others.”

Throughout the four-day SLP training, students are not only invited to notice and share about which situations they tend to approach with a fixed mindset; but also to consider how they might  shift to a growth mindset when facing those challenges. Pre- and post-assessments will give students the opportunity to track their personal development across six core leadership skills. Educators report that even the most hesitant students begin to find their voice and take initiative.

Students as Leaders: A Key Highlight in Brain Power Wellness Reviews

Many Brain Power Wellness reviews also highlight the shift that happens when students begin leading brain breaks themselves. This role reversal—from participant to facilitator— requires students to pay close attention to how these activities and exercises are meant to be practiced and explained, since they will be guiding their classmates through them. Taking on responsibility in this way builds confidence, enhances self-esteem, encourages empathy, and greater focus on linking theory and purpose with skill and practice.

As Pinto noted, “It’s one thing to talk about leadership. It’s another to practice it in real time, with one’s peers, in a supportive environment. That’s what Brain Power Wellness does—it gives students a chance to lead, to grow, and to see what’s possible.”

Whether in middle school or high school settings, the impact is clear: Brain Power Wellness equips students with tools that extend far beyond the classroom. Their mindset shifts, their confidence grows, and their ability to connect and form healthy relationships with others strengthens. In this way, in addition to being a highly effective school-based mindfulness and wellness program, BPW is also a pathway to transformation on all levels– personal, familial, and communal.
