DATAGRI brings together in Lleida a thousand experts in agri-food digital transformation

Everything is ready for Lleida to host on November 25 and 26 the leading event in southern Europe for the promotion of digital transformation in the agri-food sector, # DATAGRI2021. For two days, about 1,500 professionals from more than 15 countries will analyze the main innovations and trends in digitization applied to the cultivation, transformation and commercialization of agricultural production.

The “Forum Day” on November 25 will be held at the La Llotja Conference Center. The inauguration ceremony includes the participation of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, the Regional Minister for Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Teresa Jordá, the Chief of Staff of the European Commissioner for Agriculture, Maciej Golubiewski, the President of the Lleida Provincial Council, Joan Talarn, the Mayor of Lleida, Miquel Pueyo and the Secretary General of the national COAG, Miguel Padilla, representing all the members of the Organizing Committee of # DATAGRI2021.

Next, the round tables on “Digitization in the Agrifood Network: Are we advancing fast enough” and “Impact of digitization on agri-food business models” will be held, in which a dozen national and international success stories will be analyzed. Among them, that of Verdcamp Fruit, a horticultural supplier of Celler de Can Roca, stands out.

After the lunch-networking, (with a menu designed by chef Joel Castanyé, from the La Boscana restaurant with a Michelin star, with products from the different Protected Denominations of Origin of Catalonia), the program will be divided into two independent blocks: “Agriculture 4.0 “, in which digitalization experiences in pre-harvest, post-harvest and sustainability matters will be analyzed, and” Livestock 4.0 “, with thematic blocks related to animal production, Animal welfare and sustainability.

Next, in the main auditorium, there will be an interesting debate on “Models and strategies for Digital Transformation at the international level”, in which leading experts in the digital ecosystems of the US, EU, China and Latin America will try to unravel the threats and opportunities generated by the management and control of data in the global economy. The President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Pere Aragonés, will close the first day of the forum.

The next day, November 26, the so-called “Farming Day” will take place, a day of field demonstrations on the grounds of the Higher Technical School of Agrarian Engineering of the University of Lleida and at the IRTA farm in Mollerusa, in which farmers and ranchers will be able to see first-hand the most innovative solutions related to artificial intelligence, big-data, IOT “internet of things”, sensorization, satellite connections, etc. In parallel , a “Speaker Corner” will take place, which will be inaugurated by the director of the Data Office of the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, Alberto Palomo, and the Deputy Director General of Innovation and Digitization of MAPA, Rocío Wojski, along with different personalities from the academic and institutional world of Catalonia.

The Forum for the promotion of the digital transformation of the agricultural sector (DATAGRI), is organized by the Coordinator of Organizations of Farmers and Ranchers (COAG), Agro-alimentary Cooperatives of Spain, the technology company HISPATEC and the ETSIAM of the University of Córdoba , and is sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Lleida City Council, Lleida Provincial Council, the Regional Government of Catalonia’s Climate Action Council, the Interalimentario Forum, Cajamar, John Deere, BASF and the Digital Competence Center (ETSIAM and MAP).

In addition, for the development and organization of this edition, it has had the support of the Local Committee, made up of the three aforementioned administrations (Lleida city council and county council and the Regional Government’s Climate Action Council), the University of Lleida, IRTA, EURECAT, Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia and JARC-COAG.
