Alvarez & Marsal’s Global Transaction Advisory Group (Global TAG), part of the leading international professional services firm, has announced the appointment of Steven Kingham as Managing Director in its Manchester office. This move reflects the firm’s commitment to strengthening its UK footprint in response to growing market demand across the EMEA region.
With extensive cross-sector experience in transactional advisory, Mr. Kingham will play a key role in advancing Global TAG’s presence in Northern England and the broader regional market. His arrival builds on a strategic series of senior appointments across the region, including Nigel Hinchliffe in Manchester, Giacomo Giobbi in Milan, Sébastien Catteau in Munich, and Mark Cunanan in London, who leads the firm’s Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) Services offering.
Mr. Kingham brings more than a decade of experience from his tenure at EY, where he most recently headed the Transaction Services team in Manchester. He specialises in financial due diligence, supporting both corporate and private equity clients with acquisitions, divestitures, refinancings, carve-outs, and complex cross-border deals.
With decades of notable software and e-commerce transaction experience, Mr. Kingham will help Global TAG build on its history of helping clients capitalize on synergies across EMEA and leverage local opportunities, with an enhanced focus on the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) and consumer industries.
Paul Aversano, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of Global TAG, commented, “Our growing footprint across EMEA is a testament not only to Global TAG – and our wider firm’s – commitment to solving challenges and eyeing opportunities for our clients in the market, but continuing to bring in top market talent to help us execute on this commitment. Expanding our reach in the United Kingdom with unmatched sector expertise like Steven’s allows us to unlock more value for our clients – who, especially in an uncertain market as we have today, continue to seek out A&M for its operational, industry and functional expertise across our globally integrated platform.”
Jonathan Gibbons and Philip Mitchell, Managing Directors and TAG EMEA Practice Co-Leaders, stated, “In value terms, Manchester is one of the most active private equity markets in EMEA. The market is receptive to transaction advisory offerings that are differentiated and add value. Steven’s local track record and specialized transactions expertise allow us an acceleration lane to scale in Manchester. Combined with the experience in advising on large global corporate transactions boasted by our other recently appointed Managing Director in Manchester, Nigel Hinchliffe, we’re poised to develop a deep line of service for clients from Northern England and across the region.”
Reflecting on his new role, Mr. Kingham stated, “A&M has made significant investment in all areas of its Manchester team, where we now have a full-service transaction offering and can support clients across the transaction lifecycle. This investment is a testament to the firm’s ability to challenge conventional approaches. Our talent, breadth of capabilities and ability to deliver actionable results align with my approach for helping private equity and corporate clients create value.”
